Briton Andy Lapthorne secured his place in the French Open men’s quad final with a 6-3 2-6 6-3 win over American David Wagner.
Both players struggled to hold serve, with 19 breaks in total, with the final and most crucial secured by Lapthorne in the ninth game of the deciding set.
Two-time Grand Slam winner Lapthorne, 29, will face top seed Dylan Alcott or Sam Schroder in Saturday’s final.
Alfie Hewett beat Gustavo Fernandez to reach the men’s wheelchair final.
The 22-year-old from Norfolk was pushed all the way by the Argentine as he sealed a 7-6 (7-5) 7-5 victory to set up a match against Belgian Joachim Gerard, who stunned Japanese top seed Shingo Kunieda 7-5 2-6 6-4.
There was more good news for Hewett, who along with Scotland’s Gordon Reid defeated Frenchman Frederic Cattaneo and Gerard 6-3 7-6 (7-2) to reach the doubles final. They will now face the pairing of Fernandez and Kunieda.
